What equipment does my child need to play roller hockey? REQUIRED EQUIPMENT FOR ROLLER HOCKEY AT SLAPSHOTS
For Your Info: The required Hockey Equipment to play in our Roller Hockey League consists of the following: a HECC approved Helmet with Cage, Mouthpiece, Elbow pads, Hockey Gloves,Shoulder Pads(or Hyper or Tour Chest Shirt), Hip Protector (optional for Development League Only), Shin Guards, Skates and a Hockey Stick. Suggested equipment, but not required, is a protective cup. We have Equipment Packages for sale in our Pro Shop. We specialize in the small size player equipment needs up to Adult. See Pro Shop tab for Store Hours. Since the Fall of 2004, Shoulder Pads or a Protective Shirt similar to Tour or Hyper are required for ALL LEAGUE PARTICIPANTS. If we have never played hockey before, how do we get started? Slapshots offers a "Learn to Play" Development League for Players 6&Under and also for Players 7&Up that is held on Saturday mornings for 1 1/2 hours. This program will introduce your child to the fundamentals of roller hockey over a 9 week period with the ultimate goal of getting them prepared to move into the House League. Presently we have a Fall, Winter and Spring Hockey Season complimented with several Summer Hockey Camps while the kids are out of School. This past Summer Season we instituted a "3 on 3" Ironman League that would consist of just games, no practices for those who are interested in playing. The teams consist of only three players each so there are no substitutions, thus the name "Ironman". The Teams play two (2) six minute periods per game and they get two games per night during a 2 hour time frame. It produced so very exciting Hockey to watch and built up the endurance of all the players who participated. What are the age divisions for the Slapshots House League? We have a Development League that accepts children 6&Under and also 7&Up. In addition to our Development League, our House League has the following divisions: 8&Under, 10&Under, and a Middle School(11-13) and High School(14 and up) Division will be offered.
